Fenced and off-leash, this small dirt-and-gravel area on Kirtland Air Force Base gives dogs room to run, though no water, shade, bags, or benches are provided. Hot days are tough here given the lack of any relief from the sun. Watch dogs' paws carefully — thorny goatheads are commonly found on the ground and can cause real discomfort.
