Separate fenced sections for large and small dogs give Barks and Recreation a clear structure, and the combination of waste bags, water stations, and trash cans makes it one of the more practically equipped parks in the area. Dogs have plenty of room to run. Shade is limited, and a few visitors have noted some patchy grass, so summer midday visits may be more comfortable for owners than for their dogs.
